Minimale Erträge von unter 20hl/ha und biologische Weinbergsarbeit. Jorge und Sandra wählen in einer qualitativen Vorlese das beste Lesegut aus den Weinbergen. Das übrige Material geht als Portgrundlage an Taylors. 60% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 10%Tinta Roriz, 5% Tinta Francisca. Fermentiert im Lagare, traditionell mit Füßen gestampft. Ausbau zu 100% in gebrauchten Barriques. Erst 2 Jahre nach der Ernte kommt der Wein auf den Markt. Und braucht dann aber auch noch viel Zuwendung in Form von ausreichendem Sauerstoff ...

Süße schwarze Kirsche mit Kaffee und Kakao, Johannisbeere und Sauerkirsche. Feines Säurespiel. Dunkel und dicht im Glas. Im Mund ausgewogen. Feinstes Tannin mit üppiger Sauerkirsche, schwarze Süßkirsche, salzige Mineralität. Ein extrem charmanter Wein mit dichter Frucht.

Parker: The 2016 Tinto Quinta da Manoella is mostly a 60/25 blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with Tinta Roriz and Tinta Francisca filling out the blend. It was aged for 16 months in used French oak and comes in at 14% alcohol. This was a tank sample when last seen. It is now in the USA. This is a lovely regular Tinto and a nice value. Feeling rather full in the mouth despite its elegance, it is round and ripe yet fresh and lively. The tannins are very ripe too, so this is approachable now and drinking pretty decently now. I doubt it will turn into anything special over the next decade, but it should hold reasonably well, and it might be better this time next fall. It's a very nice buy.
