Description:

The MAX98357 I2S DAC Amplifier Module is a compact digital-to-analog audio decoder and amplifier that uses the I2S (Inter-IC Sound) protocol to directly receive digital audio signals from microcontrollers or development boards. It then amplifies the audio to drive a small speaker — up to 3W output power — using Class D filterless architecture, which is highly power-efficient and requires no external output filtering components.

The onboard MAX98357A IC by Maxim Integrated decodes I2S audio streams and provides mono output, with the ability to configure left/right/mixed channel output via onboard pin settings. The module is perfect for adding high-quality audio to compact, low-power projects such as smart speakers, IoT devices, talking gadgets, or media players.
