This navy blue straw 1950s hat has darling corset-laced trim in ivory satin on each side of the flat crown, where it curves down to hug the sides of the head. A tiny, turned-up brim curves around both the front and back of the hat. A dainty, dotted eye-length veil in matching navy blue adds glamor. The ivory satin (most likely rayon) lacing is attached to satin-covered buttons and is finished with a tiny bow on each side. The hat is in very good condition, but the navy straw seems just slightly faded from storage, and the ivory lacing is just slightly discolored, neither issue one that is likely to be noticed when the hat is worn. The lightweight straw crown is unlined, and features a maker's label from Miss May in NYC, as well as a store label from former Chicago department store Chas (Charles) A. Stevens
