Do I need special tools to install this?

Basic hand tools and a jack handle the job. You'll need to support the vehicle safely and remove the lower shock mounting bolt and upper strut tower fastener. A spring compressor is not required for this rear shock replacement.

Will this work with aftermarket lowering springs?

This shock is tuned for OEM spring rates and ride height. If you're running lowering springs, the damping may feel softer than designed. Pair it with suspension matched to factory specs or verify compatibility with your spring manufacturer first.
