Why are hood pins required for this hood?

Carbon fiber panels are lighter than OEM steel, so factory hood latches may not close with adequate pressure. Hood pins lock both halves securely and prevent flutter at highway speeds. Install them at the factory latch points for maximum safety and ease of access.

Will the two-piece seam show or leak water?

The center seam is factory-engineered with a tight tolerance that matches OEM hood spacing. Water shedding follows the same path as a single-piece hood. The joint remains weathertight under normal driving and wash conditions when properly installed.

Does this hood require any surface prep before I paint or clear coat it?

Sand the surface with medium-grit sandpaper and wipe clean of dust before applying your chosen clear coat or finish. The carbon weave texture will show through a clear coat for authentic carbon appearance, or you can apply base color over primer if you prefer a solid finish. Allow adequate cure time between coats per your product manufacturer's specs.
