The two-color abstraction mirrors a wintry night scene, where snow blankets the landscape beneath the moonlight. It could be a silhouette of an evening tree casting its shadow on the ground, a gentle dissolution of ice in a mountain stream, or a constellation shining vividly in the serene night sky. A Basny rug is hand-woven from sheep's wool in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Each piece moves through more than ten stages of making. The woven rug is then treated in cold mountain water — submerged in a wooden reservoir set in a mountain river, where a strong current runs through the fibers for up to eight hours, making them dense, tight, and durable.
