Product Description: This strand features a mix of Chevron beads from various eras, offering a historical journey through the evolution of Chevron beads.
Invented by Maria Barovier on the island of Murano, Italy, in the late 1400s, the Chevron bead technique is unique to Venetian glassmaking. While Venetian beadmaking often adapts ancient methods, Chevron beads (also known as Star Beads or Rosetta Beads) are a purely Venetian invention. Up to ten layers have been discovered in these beads, with blue being the most common color. Red, green, and black Chevron beads are rare and highly prized. The term "Chevron" means "zigzag," reflecting the distinctive pattern of these beads. The technique later spread to the Netherlands as well.
