Amrut Kadhambam Batch 5 (2014) 70cl
With a name that means 'mixture' or 'combination' this Amrut was never going to be straight forward bottling. The spirit is a vatting of normal and peated Amrut that starts life in ex-Oloroso casks before being transferred twice - first into brandy casks, then into rum casks. Both the rum and brandy are produced at Amrut allowing for a massive mixture of styles that are all 'in house'.
Cask Type: Oloroso Sherry, Brandy and Rum Casks
Amrut Distilleries is a Bangalore-based company founded in 1948 that produces a wide range of liquors, including the award-winning Amrut Indian Single Malt Whiskey, which was the first Indian single malt to be exported internationally. The name 'Amrut' comes from the Sanskrit word for "nectar of the gods," and the company uses Indian barley grown near the Himalayas for its whiskies. Due to Bangalore's high altitude and warm climate, the aging process is accelerated, with whiskies maturing faster than those in Scotland, though this also results in a higher "angel's share" (evaporation).
