Finally! Cherry trees that grow in Brisbane! The super low chill cherry tree that only require 250 chill hours and will produce fruit in the subtropics.

A lovely low chill cherry ideal for regions where there is less winter cold than is traditional for growing cherries. A very sweet, dark red cherry with excellent flavour.

Cherry Royal Crimson (Prunus avium) is a new release LOW CHILL variety of Cherry that successfully puts up a good crop in areas with a warmer Winter. This self-fertile variety produces large, tasy crimson red fruit with an estimated chill period of only 200-300 hours.

Unlike other Cherries Royal Crimson does not require a cold Winter to enable good fruit set so warmer climate gardeners can now enjoy fresh Cherries directly from the tree.

Requires a full sun position in a well fertilised soil. Like all produce plants, correct pruning, regular fertilising and watering will result in an abundance of fruit.

The trees are grafted and currently 80 cm tall. They will start to produce free fruit in 1-2 years. 

The fruit from the trees is sweet and tasty. Can be grown in pots. The trees grow to max height of 2.5m.
