The average speed of first serves on tour has increased from 168 km/h in early 2000 to 190 km/h in 2020, and the number of aces has also increased significantly. We measured these changes by analyzing the rackets of active pro players, generation by generation. And the results are very significant. First, racket weight is getting lower: Next Gen players use frames that are, on average, 18g lighter than older players. Also, swingweights are getting lower, with a difference of 20 points between these two generations.
