This elegant and ornate antique French gold chain necklace is an exceptionally beautiful 18ct yellow gold fancy openwork scroll form naïveté link chain that is long and beautiful. 

The ball clasp holds the French Eagle head for 750 / 18ct gold, with the repetitive gold filigree links running a total of 101cm in length. 

The Belle Epoque era was from 1871 - 1914 and is the French word for the “beautiful era”, with style focused on the Aesthetic movement of “art for arts sake”.  Beauty for the sake of Beauty. 

The fancy scroll links are each 5.2mm wide and are linked by smaller slim oval chain links, allowing flow and flexibility to the long chain necklace.  This period necklaces were worn long, fluidly hanging over gowns and layered with other elaborate choker and negligee jewels.
