This one is late 19th century Pennsylvania, graphite and crayon (with a little bit of saturated watercolor too) on lightly lined paper. On reverse appears the monogram (UB, I believe) written in crayon, along with a few other words I can't quite make out. Just exuberant, with marvelously bold color, and this giant sun-like flower at center, the petals of which spring more petals, and diamonds, and hearts, which then spring whole flowers on stems-- very much my kind of flower, and drawing! Framed as found, but I also opened to frame to see the back of the drawing and also to realize there is a slight green tint to the hand-cut, quite thick, old glass in the frame, which lends the drawing and white paper behind a subtle greenish tint. The frame is a nice old one though so I left as is--one could replace the glass as desired.
Framed: 9 5/8" x 8 1/8". Paper size of drawing: 7" x 4 1/2". Drawing in very good condition, bright and bold color. Antique wooden frame shows general wear. Old thick glass in the frame has a bit of a green tint as noted above, easily replaced. Drawing is not mounted to white backing paper but simply floating.
