5.4 oz/sq yd, 50" Wide, 0.012" Thick, 2x2 Twill Weave
Get the best of both worlds with this KEVLAR® and carbon hybrid. By combining the properties of both materials in each layer, this First Quality fabric delivers a high strength-to-weight ratio, high conformability, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, and fatigue resistance.
3K Carbon creates the warp and 1420 Denier KEVLAR® is dyed yellow and used in the fill direction, making for easy drape and impressive cosmetics. Use as a single layer for cosmetics or back with another layer in the cross direction for a maximum balance of properties.
This hybrid is compatible with polyester and vinyl ester resin systems, but use with an epoxy resin system to maximize the strength properties of the carbon fiber. Since Kevlar® is highly susceptible to UV degradation, store any unused fabric away from UV light.
KEVLAR® Fabric is made with genuine DuPont™ KEVLAR® fiber. DuPont™ and KEVLAR® are registered trademarks of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company and are used with permission.
Cutting composite grade KEVLAR® can be a headache! Serrated Scissors are designed to make precise, clean cuts for even the toughest fabrics. Unique design features a serrated lower blade that holds fabric in place, while a smooth upper blade makes the cut.
The KEVLAR/Carbon Hybrid (Yellow) (#1065) from Fibre Glast combines the properties of both KEVLAR and carbon fiber in each layer, delivering a high strength-to-weight ratio, high conformability, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, and fatigue resistance. This First Quality 2x2 twill weave fabric weighs 5.4 oz/sq yd at 0.012-inch thickness and 50-inch width. 3K Carbon creates the warp and 1420 Denier KEVLAR is dyed yellow and used in the fill direction, making for easy drape and impressive cosmetics.
By combining the properties of both materials in each layer, fabricators achieve the benefits of both without requiring separate layups. Use as a single layer for cosmetics or back with another layer in the cross direction for a maximum balance of properties.
This hybrid is compatible with polyester and vinyl ester resin systems, but use with an epoxy resin system to maximize the strength properties of the carbon fiber. KEVLAR is difficult to cut, sand, and machine. Consider a dedicated pair of scissors for cutting KEVLAR, as glass fabrics wear scissors at a different cutting angle than KEVLAR. Since KEVLAR is highly susceptible to UV degradation, store any unused fabric away from UV light.
