The "JD/WD" mark on silver stands for James Deakin & Sons (or John & William Deakin), a prominent British silversmithing manufacturer based in Sheffield. The mark represents James Deakin and his son William Pitchford Deakin. The Company: Founded in Sheffield in 1866 as James Deakin & Co., they entered their first "JD over WD" maker's mark at the Sheffield Assay Office in 1878. After other sons joined, it became James & William Deakin. Apologies for reflections in photos
