I love this photograph so much--for the make-shift nature of the costume, with brown paper shield bearing a hand-drawn fleur-de-lys and peter pan looking boots, but especially for the way this regal and poised young woman seems to transcend it, looking like a true reincarnation of Joan of Arc! Perfect shadows, perfect grainy backdrop, and to my eye so evocative--a real heroine!

7 9/16 x 9 1/2 photo; 10 x 14 as mounted. Good condition, hand-signed what looks like Smith at lower right. Just a bit of rippling to the photo upon close inspection, but not evident when looking at it.
