K-Taping® Therapy

K-Taping® is a drug-free therapy that supports the healing process for numerous conditions and relieves pain. Its applications include the treatment of muscle spasms, joint instability, lymphedema, incontinence, and menstrual pain. K-Taping® has rapidly become an important component of modern therapy. One example among many is post-operative care following breast removal. Here, lymphatic drainage effectively supports therapy between lymphatic drainage sessions. This effective concept has also found its place in elite sports. Patients retain full mobility, and their quality of life improves. Training remains possible despite injuries, and rehabilitation periods are shortened. Few sports disciplines do not utilize K-Taping® to support athletes during training, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

K-Tape®:
For proper application of K-Taping® therapy, a specially designed tape, the K-Tape® sports tape, is required. Thanks to the quality of the material used (a waterproof yet breathable membrane), the tape can be worn comfortably for several days, sometimes even up to two weeks. Its elasticity is comparable to that of human muscle. K-Tape® adheres to the skin thanks to its corrugated acrylic layer and is activated by body heat. The tape's durability, as it contains no medication or adhesive substances, remains the same regardless of the patient's activity: at work, during sports, while showering, swimming, and during all daily activities. The therapy therefore maintains its effect as long as the muscle tape remains in place.

How it works:
The various applications of K-Taping® allow for a wide range of therapeutic uses. The most frequently used are:

- Improvement of muscle function: depending on the application, a toning or detonating effect is obtained.
- Joint support: by stimulating proprioceptors, joint movement is improved, ligament applications passively stabilize it.
- Pain reduction: a decrease in pain is achieved by activating the endogenous pain relief system and stimulating mechanoreceptors.
- Activation of the lymphatic system: during lymph retention, K-Taping® helps to decongest by creating more space between the skin and the injured area and thus promotes better lymph circulation.

Do the different colors of K-Tape® have the same characteristics?
All K-Taping® tapes, regardless of color, are manufactured in the same way, have the same tension, and the same mechanical properties. The exception is K-Tape® Pure, which has been oxygen-bleached and is not dyed (to meet the growing demand from patients for discreet tape). It is therefore more flexible, softer, and even better tolerated by the skin. Originally designed only in red and blue (the effects of chromotherapy being controversial due to a lack of scientific evidence regarding the action of wavelength on cells), kinesiology tapes were used in a rather stimulating and calming context.
