A refined example of Brazilian modernist functionalism, this two-tier bar cart—also known as a tea trolley—was designed by Geraldo de Barros for Unilabor in the 1960s. Executed in solid jacaranda (Brazilian rosewood), the structure expresses the clarity and structural honesty that defined the Unilabor movement, where craftsmanship and social design ideals converged.

The original Formica surfaces, no longer salvageable, have been thoughtfully replaced with period-sensitive hardwood veneer, maintaining fidelity to the cart’s architectural language and intent. The removable top tray remains intact, as do the original casters and full structural framework. The jacaranda has been professionally refinished to reveal its dramatic grain and tonal depth, presented in a restrained satin finish. Minor marks to the legs are consistent with age.

Notably, this model was featured in the Netflix series Girls of Ipanema (Coisa Mais Linda), reinforcing its cultural resonance within Brazil’s mid-century narrative. A compelling acquisition for collectors of museum-level Brazilian modern design.
