Brownie's Copasetic Chair Dance was first done in Harlem, New York at the Hoofer's Club and was later made famous by the legendary "Copasetics." Ernest "Brownie" Brown, was the last surviving member of the group and, in the last 16 years of his life, partnered with Reggio The Hoofer. Together the two continued bringing the Copasetic Chair Dance with them wherever they traveled.

This dance is a delight to perform as a solo, or, better yet, with a group lined up across the stage - always a definite crowd pleaser!

The dance is taught by Reggio "The Hoofer" McLaughlin who formed an enduring partnership with the vaudeville and Cotton Club legend Ernest 'Brownie' Brown. While Reggio continues to teach and perform across the U.S. and abroad, Reggio is based in Chicago where he works with the Old Town School of Folk Music, The Chicago Department on Aging and Global Roots Out-Reach which serves children in low-income schools.
