These jackets are rather roomy for their size with plenty of space for underlayers. A large hood should fit over your helmet or warm, bulky headwear. If this hood is impractically large for your needs, simply remove it and use the smaller, fabric stowed hood instead! Inside, a snow skirt keeps the outside out. Not the most flexible or quiet material for fast movements but they are solid enough to keep a storm off you.  Italian desert vegetata wet weather gear - bada bing.
