In early 1942, over 75,000 American and Filipino troops were forced to surrender after months of fierce resistance against the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. What followed was the Bataan Death March — a 65-mile forced march under brutal conditions where thousands perished. Those who survived faced years of unimaginable hardship in Japanese POW camps.
