During OV26's passage, hurricane season brought above-normal Atlantic activity, yet the voyage itself encountered favorable conditions with slight seas and clear skies through the canal. The tropical Pacific's weakening La Niña and warmer-than-normal Atlantic surface temperatures created unique aging conditions as the ship transitioned from summer waters above the equator into the distinct climate patterns below. The result is a rye whiskey shaped by oceanic forces—temperature extremes, salt air, and constant motion—that traditional land-based aging cannot replicate.
