The Dutch operated No. 320 Squadron flew the North American B-25C Mitchell bombers too.
Here you see the Dutch accompanied by No. 98 Squadron attacking Lannex-Poulmic airfield near Brest, France.
They were protected by Spitfires and Typhoons. The attack happened on October 25th, 1943.
Unfortunately, the FR166 shown here was hit by German Flak and made an emergency landing on the English Channel. Three out of the crew of 4 survived the war as a POW. Pilot Sgt. Bank didn’t make it.
The B-25 Mitchell was the most commonly used twin-engined American bomber during the Second World War.
