Tehran workshop-commercial register, ivory-ground variant

Cream-ground Tehran urban-workshop carpets were the favourites of the 1970s daylight apartments of districts like Niavaran and Shemiran — rooms designed around large windows, where a darker rug would have collapsed the light. The composition is the same urban-commercial medallion-and-corner; the ground is bleached toward ivory so the carpet reads as light textile rather than as gravity.

How it feels in a room

Lifted. The ivory ground reflects light back into a room rather than absorbing it — the rug for a south-facing or window-led space where the room wants to read brighter. Under warm incandescent the ivory warms toward bone; under cool LED it stays clean-white.

Care

Not a machine-washable rug. Light-ground rugs show wear and stains more readily than dark grounds — treat as you would a fabric upholstered chair. Vacuum weekly. Blot any spill within seconds, never let it sit. Professional clean every 12–18 months for high-traffic rooms; every 24 months in low-traffic.
