What a tiny wonder is this exquisite hand-sewn Asian doll, circa 1940s and all of 3 inches tall, complete with cut paper hands, flower-embroidered tunic, carefully braided black thread hair, and legs that sway from side to side. The existence in the world of things such as this that exemplify such love and care I find truly heartening.

I found her at the estate sale of an architect in Amesbury, MA, who had an incredible collection of vintage dolls from around the world, of which I regret not acquiring more!
