This 15 céntimos green stamp was issued by the Spanish Republic around 1931–32 and features a finely engraved portrait of Concepción Arenal (1820–1893), the pioneering Spanish feminist, jurist, and social reformer. Part of the definitive series depicting eminent cultural and intellectual figures of Spain, it was printed by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre.
The design shows strong line engraving typical of early Republican issues, with denomination panels flanking the portrait and the inscription “REPÚBLICA ESPAÑOLA” above. Postally used examples like this one are especially appealing for their period cancellations, which place them firmly in the early years of the turbulent Second Republic.
A desirable stamp for collectors focusing on Spanish Republican postal history, women in philately, and social reform pioneers.
