Nuno Mira do Ó is a one-man viticulture and enology powerhouse. Nuno is in constant search for balance between the soil, the climate, and the vines. The 35+ year old organically-farmed vines are at 1,600 feet elevation in the granite soils of the right bank of the Dão, and are a field blend of Jaen, Alfrocheiro, and Touriga Nacional. This wine shows notes of black pepper, cinnamon, cherry, violet flowers, and a fine green freshness. There's the unique combination of elegance and power—a hallmark of the Dão—and the medium bodied tannins are a perfect match for all sorts of protein.
