Built in 1985 by Hitachi Zosen in Japan, the Ohtaka Maru (IMO 8308850) was a massive Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC). Measuring 300 metres in length with a deadweight of approximately 174,000 tons, it was designed for the global mineral trade.
Later renamed the Diamond Warrior and managed by Polembros Shipping, the vessel served as a primary transporter of iron ore for decades. After 27 years of operation, the ship reached the end of its commercial life and was sold for scrapping in 2012.
