Sowing The Seeds of Love
Tastes like: Tropical. Citrus. Floral. Flinty. Creamy. Hint of Oak.
Lovers of fine Burgundian Pinot Noir - or those who can only dream of affording the most sought after French Crus - can more than scratch their bibulous itch with this premium Chardonnay from Central Otago.
Our master wino Alex encountered are Kano’s Landwalker range whilst judging a top New Zealand wine competition and they scored top marks.
The wine is complex, layered and generous on the plate, a coming from winemakers who are genuinely lovely people, who's approach is not only sustainable but regenerative - meaning they strive to leave the soil and eco system in an even better state than when they got it. Grapes are farmed using organic practices.
Te Kano means 'seed' in Māori and The Lloyd Family believe the seeds you sow today will be what blossoms for future generations.
This blend incorporates Chardonnay fruit from three distinct vineyards: 25% Bannockburn, 8% Waitaki, and 68% Northburn - whole bunch pressed directly into barrels (20% new), with a high degree of solids. A mix of large-format puncheons and smaller barriques adds texture. Wild fermentation and lees stirring of selected parcels. Malolactic fermentation in barrel.
