The 62nd Cavalry Division was an Organized Reserve cavalry unit of the United States Army, created in 1921 due to the perceived need for additional cavalry units. It was part of the Fourth Army and the Third Corps Area, with its headquarters established in Hagerstown, Maryland. The division was officially activated with a strength of 70 officers on December 31, 1921, and by July 31, 1925, it had 355 officers and 43 enlisted men. The division included reserve units from Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania. It was disbanded in early 1942 after its men were called up for active duty during World War II.
