The rails have advanced further north, opening up new opportunities for you to deliver your livestock further than before, even to cities beyond US borders. Those locations can be very beneficial, but they require more work and effort, such as building branches to give you more options to deliver and get different rewards.

Much of the content in Great Western Trail: Rails to the North (Second Edition) was included in the original Rails to the North expansion, but this version has been modified and upgraded, with the player boards being dual-layered. Other elements in this expansion include new objective cards, a revised building 13a-13b, new materials for solo mode and a new breed of orange cows.
