This drawing is part of a series created for an exhibition about Jesus Christ at Tomás Barceló’s art space in twenty twenty-five. In this piece, I depict Jesus descending into the Bosom of Abraham—that is, visiting the place where the prophets, King David, Adam and Eve, among others, rested.
This moment appears in the Creed in the phrase “he descended into hell.” Here we see the figure of Jesus Christ descending like a drop of water into the Bosom of Abraham, illuminating everything along his path.
This drawing was made during the period that comic artists know as Inktober, a creative challenge focused on the use of ink and on producing daily illustrations.
I decided that the figure of Jesus would contain no shadows, apart from the orange tone of the background, while the surrounding figures do display black shadows.
