The title of this work, Afterimage, began with a photograph Hatakeyama encountered in an antique shop in Istanbul (the photograph was used for the jacket). (The photo is used for the jacket.) It is a photograph of two women, a mother and her daughter. (The photo was used for the jacket.) It is a photograph of two women, a mother and her daughter. The father, or perhaps the husband, took the picture. What is the story of this family and when was it taken? What is the story of this family, and when was it taken? For some reason, Hatakeyama was drawn to this photograph, and therefore, inspired by it, he formed a story as an album. Between the grazed piano samples and overdriven electric guitars, the afterimages of memories appear and disappear, racing across the haze. Melodic drone sounds and pastoral arpeggios rise from foggy chorus modulations. A new piece of guitar ambient was born, depicting the impression of two women in a photograph in abstract colors.
