Nick's core base is of course the English folk sounds derived from his own past listening to Bert Jansch, Jackson C. Frank, and Donovan not to mention blues artists like Lightning Hopkins and Leadbelly. Introduced to this album are sympathetic styles such as bossanova, pastoral classical music, gospel/soul music, and modal jazz. All of these new musics are inherently going to move his sound away from the solitary troubadour style and force you the listener to involve yourself in new musical ornamentation.
