Description:
A collection of flute quartets by Bohemian composer Adalbert Gilovets. He received his musical education from his father, studied law in Prague, and had an unusual career working as an estate manager before his employer, Count Franz von Fünfkirchen, recognized his musical talent and allowed him to play in the court orchestra. He then traveled around Europe performing and writing works influenced by the music of Haydn and Mozart, and made a name for himself. During the French Revolution, he went to England, where he had the honor of meeting and assisting Haydn, before settling in Vienna. He left behind a great deal of music for the stage. The flute quartets recorded here are all substantial in scale, with a playing time of over 20 minutes. All of them are written in three movements, rapid, slow, and fast, and each voice has its own virtuoso showcase. The Aldinghello Ensemble is a group dedicated to chamber music from the Classical to the Romantic period, especially introducing composers contemporary to Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Karl Kaiser, who plays the flute, is a veteran member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and La Stajone Krankfurt. Naxos Japan
