Copper and black in the language of shibori — intricate, precise, quietly dramatic. The ancient resist-dyeing technique reveals its geometry slowly: cluster by cluster, fold by fold, a pattern emerges that no two dyeing sessions can exactly repeat. On copper, this depth is extraordinary.
Hand-crafted in Nha Xa, a village in northern Vietnam where artisan silk traditions have been preserved for more than 700 years. The shibori process begins long before the silk meets the dye: the fabric is bound, folded, or clamped with intention, and the pattern is revealed only when the bindings are undone. It is a technique that demands patience and rewards it with singular beauty.
Woven from 100% pure mulberry habotai silk — featherlight, naturally lustrous, and ideal for shibori work, which relies on the silk's ability to absorb rich, complex colour.
Handmade in Vietnam by Silk & Bears.
