Aldo Botta
Description:
Aldo Botta, clarinet, was born in Italy in 1994. After graduating at the top of his class from the Cimarosa Conservatory, he studied with the youth orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and has since worked as a soloist. This disc contains rare solo clarinet pieces by Donizetti, known for his opera "The Wonderful Medicine of Love," and another rare solo piece by Nino Rota, known for his film music. Donizetti's exercises are interesting, reminiscent of operatic arias with superb technique. Rota's "The Ghost of Furuyashiki" consists of nine pieces of themes and variations. It is an excellent work written with a fluid melody and solid variation technique reminiscent of a scene from a movie. The other pieces include many works by 20th century composers, but they are not so-called avant-garde music, and are all relatively easy to understand. A must have for clarinetists and students.
