SINGLE SITE: RENDE VINEYARD, BLEWITT SPRINGS

NAME:
‘Oeno’ derives from the science dedicated to the study and knowledge of wines, Oenology. The vineyard boasts an altitude exceeding 200m above sea level. The top soil is pure sand, with clay and red ironstone pockets below the surface. The namesake ‘Oeno’ has been extended to this inaugural Syrah from the Rende Vineyard under the Botanic label.

VINTAGE OVERVIEW:
The season started off with high rainfalls, however dry conditions and a February heatwave shortened the harvest window, concentrating the fruit and enhancing its intensity. Despite these conditions, the vintage has delivered wines of excellent structure, vibrant fruit depth, and impressive length.

HARVEST:
The Rende Vineyard comprises of 3.5Ha of 54 year old bush vine Grenache, along with 1.2ha of 55 and 30 year old trellised Syrah. The Syrah was hand harvested on the 29th February.

VINIFICATION:

• Whole Cluster Fermentation: Approx 40% final blend
• Elevage: Post press, elevage took place two 500L thick stave puncheons for 14 months prior to bottling.
• Blending: The wine was bottled without fining or any further additions.

TASTING NOTES:
BOTANIC wines showcase the refinement and complexity of fruit and a clear expression of terroir.
