Diana, born to Jupiter and Latona and a twin to Apollo, held a vital role. She was the Roman goddess overseeing the hunt, the moon, and childbirth. For certain people, Diana was also revered as the goddess of the lower classes, particularly slaves. Her festival on the Ides of August in both Rome and Aricia was celebrated as a holiday among these groups.
