Designed during the 1950s by American artist and designer Allan Gould, this lounge chair reflects the experimental spirit of mid-century modern outdoor furniture. Gould, who founded Allan Gould Designs, Inc. in New York City, became recognized for combining sculptural steel frames with innovative woven cord seating that balanced modern design with everyday functionality.
One of Gould’s early designs, a steel frame chair with plastic cord seating, was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in 1955, underscoring the design significance of his work during the mid-century period.
This lounge chair features a steel frame paired with woven .22" vinyl cording seating. The frame remains structurally sound and is offered as a custom restoration opportunity through CFR Patio’s factory. Professional powder coat refinishing and new .22" vinyl cording installation are available in your selected colors.
