Buoy DK is a small batch yarn that started with a custom fiber blend that we fell in love with.  Buoy is a blend of three British breeds, including the rare breed Manx Loaghtan.  We use a blend of 37.5% Blue Faced Leicester wool, 37.5% Shetland wool and 25% Manx Loaghtan wool to bring together the best attributes of each breed into a beautifully lofty yarn that is perfect for sweaters, hats and mittens - anything that needs a little bit of strength, but still lofty and wearable.  

Cardinal is a kettle dyed rich warm red.

Buoy DK is a 3 ply, worsted spun DK weight yarn.  250 yds per 100 g/3.5 oz skein.  

Gauge: 5-5.5 stitches/inch

Needle: US 5-6, 3.75 – 4 mm

Hook: US 7-I , 4.5 – 5.5 mm

Blue Face Leicester is a British breed that is well known for being the finest of the medium wools, offering softness and luster.

Shetland wool brings loft and air into the blend and the characteristics we expect from a classic wool.

Manx Loaghtan is a rare breed that combines tight crimp with a longer staple length and brings a bounce to the yarn.  

Fleeces sourced in the UK, Milled to our specifications in the UK, Hand Dyed by HipStrings in the USA

Dyed using Greener Shades acid dyes.  Greener Shades dyes are heavy metal free, environmentally friendly and rated for organic processing.  They are lightfast, colorfast and washfast.  

For best results, handwash in cold water, tumble dry low.
