Description:
Thirty years after their groundbreaking debut album, London trio Saint Etienne completes a new album, I've Been Trailing to Tell You, their tenth sample-based album since 1993's So Tough. Thirty years after their groundbreaking debut album, Foxbase Alpha, beloved London trio Saint Etienne will release their tenth studio album, I've Been Trying To Tell You, on September 10, 2021, on Heavenly Recordings. The album is based on samples and sounds from 1997 to 2001. This is the period during which the Labor Party won the election and the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers occurred. For the first time, Saint Etienne did not record together in the studio. In collaboration with film and television composer Gus Bousfield, the album was completed remotely with Hove (Pete Wiggs), Oxford (Sarah Cracknell), and Bradford (Bob Stanley). This is, for me, an album about optimism, the late 90s, and how memory is an unreliable narrator. The sound is gorgeous, and Pete and Gus did a great job," Bob explains. This is the first sample-based album we've made since 'So Tough,' a dreamy end-of-summer album," said Sarah, "and we dug deep into the samples.Saint Etienne is an indie pop/dance band formed in London in 1990, consisting of Pete Wiggs (Key), Sarah Cracknell (Vo) and Bob Stanley (Key).
