Focus
Description:
Among the progressive rock movements of the 1970s, the emergence and rise of the Dutch progressive rock band Focus is particularly noteworthy. Influenced by classical music and jazz, the band's sound consisted mainly of instrumental numbers, but they dominated the charts in the U.K. and the U.S., selling as many records as the top British progressive rock bands. The archive of Focus at the peak of their career is now available on CD! After the band's first world tour and while working on their new album, they appeared as the headliners at the Dutch rock festival "Pop-In 1974" on September 14, 1974. The festival was recorded and broadcast by the Dutch TV station VARA, and this album is a live album based on the sound sources used for the broadcast. The setlist consisted of representative songs from the three albums released so far, the opening number from Jan Ackermann's solo album "Tabernakel", and the title number of the new album 'Hamburger Concerto', which was not released at this time. The band was in the midst of a period of great momentum, and the performance here is a masterpiece. Two additional bonus tracks from the band's appearance on the popular BBC TV program "Old Gray Whistle Test" are also included. Imported Domestic Version
