My piece was inspired by the famous painting by Vermeer, Girl with a Pearl Earring. The museum housing the painting, Mauritshuis in The Hague, Netherlands, has a ‘thing’ going on Instagram: asking artists to ‘recreate’ this painting in any style.
If you search for #mygirlwithapearl, you’ll see every possible interpretation, some of them very clever. Mauritshuis picks the best to publish at the Instagram page @mygirlwithapearl.
I thought my cat surely wouldn’t be satisfied with just ONE earring - it would’ve snatched a few. And I happened to have several solo earrings - doesn’t everyone? So now this kitty has three.
