Celebrating the Miraculous Restart of Pavement! The latest solo album from alterna-lo-fi mastermind Stephen Malkmus, the final installment of his trilogy, is now available! Amidst the excitement of Pavement's relaunch in 2020, Stephen Malkmus, frontman of the band and a leading figure in the alternative and lo-fi scene, has released his latest solo album on the Matador label! This is the last album in the trilogy, following "Groove Denied" (2019), which is the first album in 18 years under his solo name, and is experimental with bold electronic sounds. The theme of the album is "folk music on a new stage," and the songs are mainly inspired by the exposure to various acoustic instruments at the recording studio Halfling Studio in Portland during the making of "Sparkle Hard. The entire album is built around Malkmus' 12-string acoustic guitar, and the songs are influenced by folk rock with a grand yet unpredictable sound that makes use of a variety of instruments, including Afghan instruments. The recording was engineered by Chris Funk, a multi-instrumentalist with the US band The Decemberists, who also produced "Sparkle Hard," and the album was recorded by Matt Sweeney, guitarist for Chavez~Zwan and well known for his work with Bonnie Prince Billy. Matt Sweeney plays guitar throughout the album.Passion for music drives them into the future.
