The complete Bach cantatas conducted by Rudolf Lutz. This 30th collection includes BWV 105, BWV 55, and BWV 68. Cantata No. 105, written for the "Ninth Sunday after the Trinity," is a small but substantial cantata. It is an earnest portrayal of how confession of sins and surrender to faith in Jesus are the only way to salvation of the soul. The "Corno da Tirarsi" (a kind of horn) in this piece is played by Olivier Picon, a well-known guest performer at the Bach Collegium Japan. No. 55 is a cantata for the "22nd Sunday after Trinity. It is known as the only surviving (true) cantata written for tenor. No. 68 is a work for the "Second Sunday after Pentecost. It is a short but rich cantata with lyrics by Mariane von Ziegler, a female poet active in Leipzig, in which the significance of the birth of Jesus and His eternal life are sung. Naxos Japan
