Malipiero, Gian Francesco (1882-1973)
Description:
Maripiero is a composer who, along with Casella, Pizzetti, and others, devoted himself to the "revival of Italian instrumental music. His unconventional and brilliant works, which employ a unique musical language cultivated through his youthful study and transcription of ancient works by Monteverdi, Frescobaldi, and others, present listeners with beautiful scenes that exceed their expectations. The album includes the "Sixth Symphony," which offers the full richness of the strings, "Ritrovari Rediscovered," inspired by the works of Danunzio, a writer with whom he had a close relationship in the 1920s, and "Serenade in the Morning," which was inspired by his imagination of what it would be like to play the night music, "serenade," in the morning. The album includes four pieces, including the world premiere recording of "Five Studies," the most experimental and varied tonal compositions on the album. The album offers a glimpse into the compositional techniques of Maripiero, who was fascinated by modern sounds but also loved the classical style. Naxos Japan
