About the Photoshoot
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to experience Iceland's breathtaking aerial views from helicopters and small planes. However, there is always a longing for just a little more time or a slightly better angle to truly capture the beauty below. The constraints of flying with a captain meant I couldn't always linger where I wished.
This is where the magic of drones comes in. Using a drone gave me the freedom to immerse myself in this scene and compose the image exactly as I envisioned. This photograph was captured along Iceland’s dramatic south coast, near the renowned Reynisfjara black sand beach.
Here, a glacier river meets the mighty Atlantic Ocean in a powerful, fleeting dance. The river weaves its way across the volcanic sands, its vibrant orange and yellow hues glowing like molten lava. The emerald waves of the ocean crash against the shoreline, their frothy white edges creating a striking contrast against the black sands. This ever-changing meeting of water and land is a testament to the raw and untamed beauty of Iceland, where nature’s palette paints scenes unlike anywhere else in the world.

About Iceland's Glacial Rivers
Iceland's glacial rivers are among the most extraordinary natural phenomena on Earth. Born from the melting ice of massive glaciers, these rivers carve intricate paths through the volcanic landscape. As they flow, they carry fine silt and minerals from the glaciers, which scatter light to create vibrant and surreal colors, ranging from bright turquoise to deep yellow and orange.
What makes these rivers even more remarkable is their constant state of change. The patterns they form shift with the seasons, the weather, and the flow of water, ensuring that no two moments are ever the same. Iceland’s glacial rivers are a reminder of the powerful forces at work beneath the surface, shaping and reshaping the land in an endless cycle of creation.
This photograph is presented in a landscape orientation, showcasing the mesmerizing interplay of nature’s forces and colors. Last Flow captures the fleeting beauty of Iceland’s glacial rivers and their vibrant union with the ocean—a timeless piece that draws viewers into the heart of Iceland's wild and untamed landscapes.
