The sixth installment of the Mahler series by Kenichiro Kobayashi and the Japan Philharmonic is "Symphony of a Thousand," the culmination of KOBAKEN's Mahler performances. (EXTON's first recording) This live recording was performed in May 1998 to commemorate the Japan Philharmonic's 500th subscription concert. While the orchestra, soloists, and chorus each spun out their own luminous "songs," Kobayashi's full spirit under his baton wove the individual sounds together, sublimating them into a symphony of supreme prayer and human love.
