Nino Rota
Description:
The soundtrack to Federico Fellini's 1960 masterpiece "The Sweet Life" (1960) has been completely restored and remastered from the original master tapes and released as the CAM SUGAR Heritage Series, a collection of scores synonymous with the history of Italian cinema. This restored version includes 14 tracks that have not been previously released. This restored edition includes 14 previously unreleased tracks (vinyl/streaming). Among them is a previously unreleased version of the main theme, sung by Catina Ranieri, the wife of composer Liz Ortolani, with new artwork that updates the film's imagery in a modern way. The timelessly elegant music of Nino Rota, which is a nod to the world of Federico Fellini, constantly oscillates between melancholia and up-tempo fun throughout the film. Rota blends jazz, rock 'n' roll, Latin rhythms, and circus music to provide a compendium of mediocrity and loneliness, desire and frustration that perfectly captures the sweet but sassy attitude of the protagonist Mastroianni. 2LP also available. Gait-folded specs.
