This is the exciting news I’ve been holding since January! I created the next MONTANA license plate!

I have always wanted to paint a Montana license plate and when the Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation reached out to me and asked if I would create a plate, it was an instant YES! Finally, someone asked me! I’ve been waiting for this!

This scene depicts Trapper Peak in the Bitterroot Mountains with a herd of elk set against fall cottonwoods. When designing, I knew the plate would need to be colorful and pop. Also, have a good backdrop for the lettering, space for MONTANA between peaks, and elk unobstructed by lettering.

This plate is now out on the marketplace. All proceeds benefits the foundation. You can bet I’m changing my plates over.

I can’t wait to be driving around and see it on the roads!

For those who aren't able to get the license plate, you can enjoy a canvas print of this painting in your home!

Open Edition means the print does not carry a number, but it is still signed with James' signature from the original painting.

Presented in a very fine giclee printing process to achieve high detail and the original appeal of oil paint.
